Why does the Indian judiciary take 7 years on average to resolve disputes? Because over 70% cases stuck are property disputes. Property disputes are complex because Government doesn’t guarantee ownership of property. INR 2 Lakh Crore is frozen yearly because no one can verify who owns what.

Ask your family and you will hear the stories.

Do you want to be amongst the limited set of people who can say they have solved the property fraud problem in their country? If yes, keep reading…

About BhuMe

BhuMe is the intelligence layer for real estate, currently serving over 3.5L users in Maharashtra. We have helped over 1L farmers in ensuring their properties are legally safe.

BhuMe makes land records simple to understand and act on. Buying, owning or inheriting land in India often means wading through scattered, hard-to-read documents. We bring that information together so people can check a title, track changes on their land, and make decisions with confidence.

We’re a small team, which means the work you ship reaches real users quickly and you’ll shape how the product looks, feels and grows.

The role

You’ll be the design owner for BhuMe’s app and web experience, from early problem framing to polished, shipped screens. You’ll turn complex legal and land data into flows that a first-time buyer or a busy farmer can follow without help.

You’ll work closely with founders and engineers, maintain our design system, and help define how BhuMe grows from a records tool into products people pay for, like title check and land monitoring reports.

What you’ll do

  • Own end-to-end design for core product flows: research, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity UI
  • Simplify dense land and legal information into clear, trustworthy interfaces
  • Design conversion-focused web pages and report experiences (e.g. title check, land monitoring)
  • Build, maintain and document the BhuMe design system so design and code stay in sync
  • Run lightweight user research and usability tests with landowners, buyers and partners
  • Partner with engineering on handoff, QA and quick iteration after launch
  • Use data and user feedback to decide what to improve next

How we know you’re the right fit

  1. Slope over intercept: Come in with energy and capacity for growth, and we will throw you as much rope as you’re willing to catch.
  2. Comically fast: Customer has a crazy feature request? Spot it, ship within 12 hours and get back to the customer. Without a single meeting. For the love of the game.
  3. Stepping on toes encouraged: you don’t need permission to operate in a different functional area than your own, or on a different product/ platform. And there isn’t red tape. We encourage designers, product, ops ship features and jam on architecture. Or engineers do product, design and so on. Everyone does whatever gets the job done for customers faster and people aren’t precious or territorial about it.
  4. Humble: Everyone knows our customers are the ones moving the needle in this country - from local builders and developers to manufacturing & warehousing companies. And that BhuMe’s contribution is to give them the peace of mind. Strong filter for low ego: everyone is services minded.

What we require

  • 3–5 years of product design experience, with at least one product shipped to real users
  • A portfolio showing your process, not just final screens: the problem, your decisions, and the outcome
  • Strong interaction and visual design skills, with an eye for clarity and hierarchy
  • Comfort in Figma, including components, variables and auto layout
  • Experience creating or maintaining a design system
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Ownership: you can take a vague problem and drive it to a shipped solution

Nice to have

  • Experience in proptech, fintech, legaltech or govtech products
  • Designing for users in India, including vernacular languages and low-bandwidth or mobile-first contexts
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design or prototyping tools
  • Basic front-end knowledge (HTML/CSS) to collaborate closely with engineers
  • Early-stage startup experience

What we offer

  • ₹12–20 LPA
  • Full-time role in Bangalore with flexible working hours
  • Real ownership of design at an early-stage company, with direct impact on the product
  • A chance to solve a meaningful problem: making land information accessible to millions
  • Access to the best AI tools
  • Chance to do a mini MBA on how to build a customer centric organisation
