What the 8A utara shows
People search for this record as 8A utara Maharashtra, khata utara or khata extract — all names for the same statewide form. Village Form VIII-A is the khata statement — the Talathi’s account of one holder’s land in one village. A typical extract lists:
- Khata number and the holder’s (or joint holders’) names
- Every survey/gat number the holder has in that village, with subdivision (hissa)
- Area of each plot and the total holding
- Land-revenue assessment payable on the holding
So while a 7/12 utara answers “who holds this plot?”, the 8A answers “what does this person hold in the village?“

Get the 8A offline
Apply to the village Talathi (or the taluka revenue office) with the khata number or holder name. A certified copy typically takes a few days and a nominal fee — practical only if you are already visiting the village.
Common issues
- Name search returns nothing — the record stores names in Marathi script; try the khata number, or check spelling variants of the name.
- A plot is missing from the 8A — the mutation (ferfar) after a purchase or inheritance may not be certified yet; check the plot’s 7/12 and pending ferfar.
- Two khatas for one person — holdings acquired at different times sometimes sit under separate khata numbers until consolidated; ask the Talathi to merge them.
- Portal down or slow — common at month-end; retry off-peak or use the app.
